75 Years Ago This Week - April 19

75 Years Ago This Week - April 19

75 Years Ago This Week began March 1, 1938 - my mother and father were preparing to get married later in the month.

Over in The KINNICK Project blog, we had another week of daily entries from Mom's - that is Eileen Kinnick's - diary.

Some highlights:

Pete doing spring farming. Eileen to Bank Nite movie with Mae West…

Pete disked over at the 80…

Got both an ice box and a stove…

A 'normal' Sunday, worked around the house and yard, Pete had evening meeting…

Monday night, and they went dancing! ;-)

From the local newspaper in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the Coon Rapids Enterprise, 75 Years Ago:

April 15, 1938:

Coon Rapids ranked first in the vocal division in class B schools by receiving four superiors and one excellent in the southwest district music contest at Atlantic Friday and Saturday. Superior rating was given to the boys’ glee, the male quartet, small mixed vocal group, and the baritone solo by Keith Textor. Wayne Cooley’s tenor solo received a final rating of excellent. Events rated superior will go to the finals at Iowa City the first week in May. Fifty schools were present at the contest. Jordan Johnson directed the students in competition.
Miss Mildred Middleton was their accompanist.

My comment: Some of Eileen's close friends in music and in Coon Rapids.

Families are forever!  ;-)
